Development Status of new campus of Rajiv Gandhi
national University of Law, Punjab
Site:
New campus of RGNUL is coming up in a land measuring
appx; 47.30 acres. Proposed campus is being
developed as Green University, for this rain
harvesting, construction of sewage treatment plant (STP),
plantation of trees and installation of solar
systems etc. are put in place.
Campus boundary wall:
Work of campus boundary
wall stands completed. Campus is having two
entry gates. Work of construction of main gate and finishing of
front wall is about to be completed.
Construction of internal roads: - Work for the construction
of internal roads is in progress. Foot paths &
electric poles etc are also being provided all along
the roads.
Hostels for boys and Girls: -
As per master plan of the
proposed campus six blocks for boys and girls
are constructed.
Covered area of these hostels is 1,99,000 Sq feet
(1,08,500 Sq ft for boys and 90,500 Sq ft for girls).
All the
rooms have been furnished with box type bed, study
table, study chair, books shelves etc. There is a
provision of cupboard in each room having sufficient
storage capacity, there is also provision for locker
in each cupboard for safe custody of valuables i.e.
Laptop, wallet, mobile etc. There is a separate
provision for basket ball and badminton court for
boys and girls hostels.
Dining halls
for boys and girls are having capacity for
330 students each. Ultra modern kitchen are being
equipped with modern cooking gadgets. Water coolers
are being fitted with R.O for drinking and water for
cooking is also through R.O system.
Remaining three blocks each for boys and girls
hostels shall be constructed in 3rd phase
of the construction.
Construction of Residences for Assistant Professor
and class IV: -
There is a proposal for the construction of
following residences in the new campus:
1.
6 no’s Professor’s Residences (Duplex)
2.
12 no’s Reader's House, (Duplex)
3.
24 no’s Assistant Professor (Lecturer’s) Houses.

4.
Non-Teaching Staff Houses 32 no’s. (G+3)
5.
32 no’s Class IV Houses. (G+3)
6.
Registrar’s Residence
7.
Vice Chancellor’s Residence
Work for the construction of 12 No’s residences for
Assistant Professor and 16 No’s
residences for class IV is already complete.
Construction of Administrative / Academic Block: -
As per
drawings evolved by the consultant architect, there
is a one block housing Administrative block in the
front and Academic block at the rear. Keeping in view immediate
requirement, work of Academic block has been taken
in hand. Academic block under construction is
having 12 no’s class
rooms, 06 no’s lecture halls, 02 no’s, computer
labs, Moot court, conference hall, Canteen and
stationery shop etc. Work is under progress and
is expected to be completed very soon.
Guest House: -
There is a provision for V.I.P. Guest Houses &
Faculty Guest Houses in the new campus. Construction
work of these buildings is going on and is almost
complete. Fully
furnished guest house is also available in the present
RGNUL campus at Mohindra Kothi, The Mall, Patiala.
This guest house is having two A.C’s rooms with
drawing room, kitchen etc.
Boring & installation of Tube well: - Tube
well has
been got bored from Punjab PWD Public Health
department, having all the machinery and
experience in this field. Depth of the tube well is
about 200 Mtr.
Water has been got tested from the Govt.
approved laboratory and is found to be fit for
drinking.
Over Head Service Reservoir (OHSR):- OHSR,
having storage capacity of 2 lac liter of
water has also been commissioned for water supply in
the campus.
Construction of
Sewage Treatment Plant (STP):-
STP having capacity of 200 KLD
has also been made functional in the campus. Treated
waste water is being used for irrigation
purposes.
Other infrastructure to be taken up in the campus: -
In addition to the above buildings, the campus shall
also be having Auditorium, library, Health
Centre/Faculty Club, Shopping complex, Stadium, etc,
preliminary drawings for these buildings are being
prepared by the consultant architect m/s Kothari
associated New Delhi. Construction work of these
buildings is going
on.
