The University
offers B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) Five Years Integrated Course
divided into Ten Semesters (i.e., two semesters in one
academic year). English, Economics, History, Political
Science and Sociology are taught as the social science
components of legal studies. According to the new scheme
of Bar Council of India Social Science Subjects are
offered as major and minor subjects. At present university
is offering major courses in Economics, Political Science
and Sociology. Power Point Presentations are compulsory
for each seminar in the respective subject. The University
has a well stocked library with more than 22,000 books,
journals, e-journals, periodicals, etc. etc. The
University has two advanced computer labs. Internet
facility is provided through leased line and the entire
campus is Wi-Fi enabled. The students are encouraged to
have their own lap-tops. The university has a well
furnished Moot Court Hall, Conference Hall, Lecture Rooms
and Class Rooms equipped with modern teaching aids and
equipments.
RGNUL is presently located at its headquarters the
Mohindra Kothi, one of the heritage buildings of the
erstwhile Patiala State. Its permanent campus shall soon
come up in an area of 50 acre on Patiala-Bhadson Road,
about 8 kms from Patiala city. As RGNUL is an upcoming
National Law University, significant endeavour is made to
evolve a pragmatic and participative learning environment
promoting creative teaching. Our aim is to provide
students with holistic academic and professional
environment conducive to grooming prospective
professionals in the field of law. The teaching
methodology entails both intensive and extensive class
room teaching and participative learning. The students are
confronted with the real life problems and are trained to
acquire analytical and logical skills. Therefore, teaching
schedule includes lectures, discussions, case studies,
daily seminars and project works, ensuring student
participation. The University follows the semester system
where social science subjects are taught along with law
for the first two years to initiate students towards an
interdisciplinary approach to legal education. Internship
of the University has been divided into two stages the
Initial and the Advanced Internship Programmes.
The heritage building with RGNUL has been tastefully
furnished to meet all academic and administrative
requirements. State-of-the-art sports facilities; hostels;
transport; medical and other facilities. New Campus has
been aesthetically designed with marvelous architecture
and green environment in an area of 50 acres of land at
village Sidhuwal near Patiala, as model campus of a
National Law University.
In academics and in research, RGNUL faculty and students
have to their credit quality publications and
participations at scores of national and international
forums. We have organized number of mega events namely
LAWASIA Moot Court Competition; Commonwealth Moot Court
Competition; National Seminar on Family Law; and 24th BCI
National Moot Court Competition, One Day Workshop on
Learning Effective Teaching Skills for the law teachers of
the region and Training of Trainers Programme in
Humanitarian Law, Five-Day Training Programme on Role of
Police and Criminal Justice for Station House Officers (SHOs)
of the Punjab Police and Two day International
Multidisciplinary Congress on Political Science and Good
Governance. The University is going to admit new batch of
graduation and post-graduation courses in law in the
forthcoming session through the Common Law Admission Test
(CLAT) to be conducted at the national level. The
registration for research degree (Ph.D.) in Law and Ph.D.
in Social Sciences with Law are under process.
The University has established Centre for Advanced Study
in Criminal Law (CASCL); Centre for Consumer Protection
Law and Advocacy (CCPLA); Centre for Advanced Studies in
International Humanitarian Law (CASH); School of
Agricultural Law and Economics (SALE); RGNUL Institute for
Competitive Exams (RICE); Directorate of Distance
Education (DODE); and Bureau of Information for Studies
Abroad (BISA).
The University is member of various national and
international professional organizations and is also in
the process of obtaining membership of some other.
Prominent among these are: All India Federation of Tax
Practitioners, Asian Law Institute (ASLI), Association of
Indian universities (AIU), Commonwealth legal Education
Association (ASIA), Consumer guidance Society of India,
DELNET (development library Network), Forum of south Asian
clinical law teachers, IASLIC (Indian association of
special library and information center), Indian Academy of
Social Sciences (ISSA), Indian commerce Association,
Indian Economic Association, Indian Institute of Public
Administration (IIPA), Indian law Institute (ILI), Indian
society of International law (ISIL), Indian society of
criminology, Institute of constitutional and Parliamentary
studies (ICPS), International association of law schools (IALS),
International association of law libraries, International

RGNUL is an autonomous body, governed by its own Statutory
Councils. The University has a democratic administrative
system and the faculty has an effective participation in
the formulation and implementation of the University
policies and programmes. We are sure that the coming batch
will enjoy the invigorating environment of this University
during their stay with us for five years.
