Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law in association with the International Justice Mission (IJM), an International NGO based in Chennai established the Centre for Advanced Studies in Labour Welfare (CASLW) on 1 September 2012.
The purpose of this Centre is to improve the conditions of labour justice system and create legal awareness among labourers. The centre makes an effort to uphold the rights of the labourers and their children, ensuring them the life of dignity. The aim of Centre is to promote the rights of Labourers and sensitize about the problems of child labour. The Centre also make efforts to teach the children of labourers in campus of University and aware them about their fundamental right to education as well as the duty of parents to send their children to school. The Primary aim of the Centre is to spread awareness for Labour Welfare and empowerment. The CASLW also organise the workshops, seminars and essay writing competition on the problems of labours of organised and unorganised sector. The ultimate objective of the CASLW is to recognise the national and international issues relevant to promotion and protection of human rights and human dignity of labourers.
