Vice-Chancellor’s Message
The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab empowers students with
knowledge and skills pertinently required for academics, litigation, judiciary,
governance and service of society. The University aids students with diverse curriculum
from an interdisciplinary perspective. Innovative pedagogy, constructive interaction,
research, clinical training, and extra-curricular activities – moot, debate, sports –
prepare students for challenges in the rapidly changing times. Law and lawyers have
always played a pivotal role in stalling injustice and inequity.The pandemic and
disruptive technology necessitate advanced pedagogic techniques to prepare budding
lawyers for the changing times. RGNUL supports students in several ways and equips
them with quality education to meet the dynamic demands of legal profession and
encounter challenges. Despite the closure of institutes and disruption in traditional
educational practices due to Covid-19, RGNUL not letting down guard during different
phases of the pandemic took to online platforms for continuity in academics and extra-
curricular activities. Amid the apprehension and precariousness induced by the
pandemic,the university conducted examination in consonance with the academic
calendar on virtual mode.
Keeping pace with the advancements of ICT and global legal education system, the
University has introduced effective ways of teaching. Specific training pertaining online
teaching has been provided to equip teachers with knowledge of latest tools and
techniques required for online teaching. The incorporation of innovative pedagogy through interdisciplinary approach and Law Practicum
Series from this session will reinforce learning, enhance legal reasoning and problem solving competence of students. With the introduction of
interdisciplinary approach and Law Practicum Series, students will have holistic understanding of law as they will be introduced to practical
aspect of the subjects of law by eminent lawyers and judges. Seventeen centres of research at RGNUL with student participation in research
projects consolidatere search culture and provide students opportunity to develop their skills. New Research Centres, Center for Criminology,
Criminal Justice and Victimology (CCV); Centre for Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights (CIIPR) and Centre for Business Law and Taxation
(CBLT), have been established to undertake research, training, consultancy on the contemporary issues and international collaborations with
thrust on student participation in research projects. RGNUL Student Academic Assistant Support Policy (RSAASP) and Student Mentorship
Program (RGNUL SMP) initiated in academic session 2021-22 aim to provide academic assistance, emotional support, promote inter-batch
association and develop leadership qualities in learners.Two new courses, LL.M (Executive) Programme and PG Diploma in Prison
Administration have also been introduced in this session.
Our students, “heart of the institute,” have performed exceptionally in Moot Court, ADR and other competitions, availed excellent
Inter/national Internships and Placements, published research papers and most importantly, always contributed significantly in carrying out
their duties towards the community. I am confident that the diligence and persistence of students, faculty and staff to excel will enable RGNUL
in attaining international recognition in the field of academia.
I congratulate the cohort of Undergraduate and Post Graduate Programme on joining RGNUL, Punjab and wish everyone fruitful learning years
ahead.
