CENTRE FOR BUSINESS LAWS AND TAXATION (CBLT)


The Centre for Business Laws and Taxation has been established with a view to promote interdisciplinary research on Business Laws and Taxation. The Centre aims to engage in diverse activities including, but not limited to, organizing Webinars, Conferences, Workshops, and Moot Court Competitions; initiating credit and non-credit Courses; publishing Newsletters and Blog Series; engaging in meaningful research on business laws and taxation etc. The Centre would also indulge formulating policies in prescriptive sense and providing internships to various students of law in the field of research and development. For this purpose, the Centre aims to collaborate with other stakeholders and institutions for a continuous growth in the field of business laws and taxation.

Centre aims to encourage multi-disciplinary study in the field of Business Law including, but not limited to, General Corporate Governance, Banking Law, Company Law, Securities Law, Intellectual Property LawsTaxation Law, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Laws, Competitions Laws, Mergers and Acquisitions and Dispute Resolution. The Centre aims to establish an effective venue for discussion and dialogue on contemporary issues in Business law and Taxation to generate awareness and facilitate research in this field.

To achieve our goal, we aim to bridge the gap between academics and practical learning by launching projects that engage industry experts with extensive expertise in the field. The Centre proposes a dual model approach to maintain a continuous balance of information from both academia and industry.

The Centre aims to institutionalize and channelize corporate and business-related research thus, providing a vital impetus by instilling in future corporate professionals an attitude of questioning different elements of business and its interaction with society. The following points encapsulate the Centres’ aims and objectives:


  1. Publication: Publication of book series, blog series and newsletters, among other things.

  2. Training and Courses: Design and offer courses in the area of business law taxation.

  3. Platform for Practitioners: To serve as a national platform for scholars, practitioners, and regulators working in Business Law and Taxation, both private and public.

  4. Conferences/ Panel discussions: To hold Business Law and Taxation seminars/conferences, workshops, debates/discussions, and trainings, among other things.

  5. Policy Formulation: To be a leading source of guidance and policy assessment for private and public sector Business Law and Taxation.

  6. Consultations: To provide consulting services to governments, institutions, and organizations working to improve Business Law and Taxation.

  7. Collaborations: To collaborate with institutions, experts, NGOs, governments, public authorities and law firms on Business Law and Taxation research and initiatives.

  8. Moot Court Competitions: To organize Moot Court Competitions in the area of Business Law and Taxation.
